Please use the BF2 Racing Client Files Installer to install the racing mod on your computer.
These instructions are for the previous release of the MOD that had to be manually installed.
This MOD does not come with an installer package (as of yet) so please follow these simple steps in order to properly install the BF2 Racing MOD on your computer.
Once you’ve downloaded the BF2_RACING_MOD.zip file to your computer, extract it to your desktop. Once extracted, open the BF2_RACING_MOD folder. This folder contains the bf2racing.zip file, your desktop shortcut, and a ReadMe.txt file.
Extract the bf2racing.zip file to your Battlefield 2/mods folder. If you prefer, you can extract it directly into the BF2_RACING_MOD folder and then drag and drop the bf2racing folder into the Battlefield 2/mods folder.
The complete path to the mods folder will be: C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods
NOTE: If you have previous versions of any of the racing maps installed in
the mods/bf2/levels folder, you must delete them. Look for these maps:
daredevil_drive
lakeside_park
pine_hollow_raceway
possum_ridge
snake_run_rally
sudden_impact
terrace_speedway
thunder_mountain
BF2 Racing Desktop Shortcut
There are two ways to add a desktop shortcut for the BF2 Racing mod. The first method is to make a copy of your BF2 desktop icon and then edit its properties.
The Target line should read: “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe” +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/bf2racing
You will also need to change the icon image. Right click on the shortcut and click on Properties. Click the Change Icon button and then browse to:
Program Files/EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2racing\bf2racing.ico
Click OK and Apply.
The second method is to copy and paste the desktop shortcut link from the BF2_RACING_MOD folder to your desktop. If your Battlefield 2 installation is on your C: drive, it should be ready to use. Go ahead and test it now to verify that it launches the bf2racing MOD.
If it does not successfully launch the racing mod, you will need to edit the properties for the shortcut link. To do this, right-click on the shortcut and then click on the Properties link.
Click the “Find Target” button to verify that it is pointing to:
C:/Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe
NOTE: Hard Drive letter will be different if you installed on a drive other than C:
If the BF2.exe file is not selected by default, navigate to the file and select it.
