Get ready for a new racetrack for BF2 that features a brand new starting gate and a visual pop-up timer to help the racers anticipate the opening of the starting gates. The pop-up timer has red, yellow, and green cylinders that provide a visual display that the race is starting and the gates are opening.
Spectators will appreciate the mezzanine above the starting gate that permits watching the start of the race and numerous viewing platforms located at key points around the track.
The Hammer Down race track is a medium wide track with many sharp curves and steep hills. Learning to “drift” is recommended as it is an essential skill on this course. The race jeeps are fast! Very fast – considering they are powered by a jet engine. The engine also has an afterburner for short bursts of intense speed. The heavy duty suspension allows the jeep to take a considerable amount of damage.
There is a “Judges Station” situated at the Finish Line flag along with a Spectator Tower for all to see who is the winner of the race. It is highly recommended that you install and run “BattleRecorder” on your server to deal with any disputes when racing competitively.
The race consists of just one lap around the track and takes about 4 minutes to run. There are plenty of straightaways for passing, short jumps for pulling wheelies, and many steep hills and sharp turns just to keep it interesting and exciting. Watch out for the embankments of either side of the track or you may find yourself with the rubber side UP! Getting flipped back over is a skill in itself.
This version of the Hammer Down Raceway is designed to run in BF2 and NOT in our racing MOD. That version will follow shortly. After you download the ZIP file, extract the Hammer_Down folder into your BF2 levels folder.
I prefer to map my middle mouse button to control the afterburner booster, but the Left Shift key is the default button to activate the boost feature.
